Established actor Oliviia Tcargush has been an actor for many years. The Abkhazian and Georgian actress started her career at age 6 in Moscow on various television shows and stage productions. As a budding actor, she has been a huge fan of literature, spending a lot of time reading and analyzing classical literature and poetry. This love for literature has translated into a passion for script analysis and understanding her characters deeply – making her one of Hollywood’s latest stars in film and television.
Since moving to the entertainment capitol, Oliviia has held honing her craft as one of the most important aspects of her career. We caught up with Oliviia who shared insight into what training means to her and how that knowledge can have a bigger impact on others rising through the ranks in acting.
“Training holds immense importance for me. Even before I obtained my acting degrees in Los Angeles, I recognized the necessity of training as a vital guide in my career. Acting demands a profound self-awareness – understanding fears, strengths, joys, and vulnerabilities. It’s a journey to know oneself entirely. Doing this alone can be challenging; sometimes, it’s hard to push oneself as diligently as someone else can. Particularly at 18, having mentors and structured training is crucial.
Training is not just about classroom learning; it is about expanding knowledge and exposure. Spending time in libraries, discussing with professors, and engaging with industry professionals provides insights. Human connection is intrinsic to acting, and learning directly from experienced coaches is invaluable.
For me, overcoming language barriers was a significant aspect of training. Coming from Russia, my accent posed a challenge. Through training, I learned various dialects and accents, expanding my vocabulary and acting range. Learning to use a standard American accent was transformative, enhancing my versatility as an actress.
Witnessing fellow actors on similar journeys, navigating their creative paths, is inspiring. Collaboration in a training environment fosters communication, creating a community of artists striving to improve. The ongoing need for guidance and coaching persists even with degrees and experience. Acting is subjective; what feels right may appear different to an audience. Training provides the essential external perspective to align intention with perception.
Training is an ongoing necessity. Regardless of degrees and achievements, actors benefit from continuous learning, guidance, and the expertise of coaches and industry professionals. It is a collaborative effort to refine one’s craft and navigate the intricacies of the ever-evolving world of acting.”
In recent months, Oliviia has captivated audiences not only on the big screen but on social media she has been trending for her sketch work as an actor. She has been receiving a lot of attention on her social media. In the past twomonths, she has received 5 million views, 700 thousandviews, and consistentlysurpass 100 thousandviews on her content. Weasked Oliviia whatis the special sauce needed to go viral on such platforms as TikTok.
“Mypersonalityis the main focus of my brand; itiswhatinitiallydrew people to my social media presence. As a creator of lifestyle content, mybilingualism, particularlymy use of English whilespeakingRussian, has resonatedwellwithmy audience.
This unique aspect has been extremely appreciated, leading me to create videos focused on English language learning—improving accents, explaining grammar rules, and teaching new phrases! I have been getting an overwhelming amount of comments on how helpful my content is for both English and building the confidence, and not only that but I’ve received numerous requests to start an online school and begin teaching both Acting and English.
I believe the success of my approach lies in the way I use my acting skills to explain the material, making it more accessible and engaging. I encourage the use of imagination and creativity rather than just presenting the facts. My method involves performing in the videos, but still keeping it in the form of “I am going to explain this right now”, so that the viewers would pay attention and learn the material. I utilize the same energy and voice that I would in rehearsals or on stage, which has been a notable change!”
Speaking passionately about guiding others in the world of acting, Oliviia touches on her own experiences and love of literature.
“As a professionally trained actress who also creates content about acting—such as understanding Shakespeare and conducting text and script analysis, it is so beautiful to have a platform where I can explore my passions coming from my main love – Acting. Not only that, but I am also a big literature lover, and have done multiple written literature works that have been critically acclaimed. My deep connection with literature, poetry and text analysis allows me to create unique techniques of approaching and learning English through acting for those who have had troubles of learning the language in the past.
And because my material is so popular and in high demand online, I have decided to start my own online school for English and Acting, because in my method that proved to be extremely helpful, one cannot exist without the other one!
I have done teaching before, and it has always been resonating with all my students; however, with my social media I’ve realized how huge of an impact my methods can make on students, how big of a change in their world it makes. I use English Grammar Rules and connect them with a beautiful world of Acting and Theatre, I am creating something I wish existed when I was in my English learning journey.”
