Irish alternative trio KEELEY return with their most expansive and fully realised work to date, Girl On The Edge Of The World, a record that deepens their cinematic, guitar-driven sound while opening a powerful new chapter in their story.
Fronted by singer, guitarist and songwriter Keeley Moss, the band have built a reputation for immersive songwriting that fuses shoegaze haze, Britpop immediacy, shimmering jangle-pop and atmospheric indie rock. On this third studio album, that sonic identity feels richer and more alive than ever. For the first time, touring members Lukey Foxtrot (bass) and Andrew Paresi (drums), renowned for his work with Morrissey, contribute fully to the recordings, bringing a dynamic, live energy that elevates the entire collection.
As with all of KEELEY’s music, the album is inspired by the life of Inga Maria Hauser, the young German artist whose 1988 Interrail journey ended tragically in Northern Ireland. Rather than recounting events directly, Girl On The Edge Of The World explores the emotional landscapes surrounding her story, youth, independence, wanderlust, ambition and vulnerability, transforming real-life echoes into something poetic and transportive. The result is an album that feels both intimate and widescreen, nostalgic yet urgent.
At the heart of the record is the focus track, “Hungry For The Prize.” Positioned as the album’s opener, it immediately establishes momentum and intent. Swirling guitars collide with propulsive rhythms, capturing a restless sense of motion, the thrill of setting off into the unknown. There’s exhilaration in its build, but also determination: a reflection of both Inga’s adventurous spirit and Moss’s own artistic drive.
“Hungry For The Prize” encapsulates what KEELEY describe as their long-sought “sonic swirl” layered textures that feel weightless yet powerful, shimmering yet grounded. It’s a statement of purpose, pulling listeners into the album’s emotional journey while standing confidently on its own as a soaring alternative anthem.
With growing radio support, an expanding live audience, and a forthcoming documentary set to widen their international reach, KEELEY are stepping boldly forward, carrying the past with them, but sounding entirely present.
