Can you share the story of how you began acting at such a young age?
I started to go to a lot of acting and singing classes since I was very young. I always felt the passion to be on stage and to perform. I wanted to experience as much as I can. I was performing on every stage that I could possibly be on.
What inspired you to pursue acting as a lifelong career?
I always knew that this is what I was born to be. I know that this what I do best. There is nothing else that I feel so passionate about. That feeling of being on stage or on set, the feeling of playing a character or delivering a story. There is nothing like that. I love being a storyteller. I really love to explore and ask a lot of questions. I love doing research and to find details about the character that I didn’t know and link it to things about me. I also love finding out what is different in me from the character. I see myself doing it for the rest of my life. I love acting and I love this business.
How has your experience in theatre shaped your approach to acting in films and commercials?
I think that theatre is the basic ground for acting. That is how acting has started. So it’s really important to study that base. It helped me a lot to approach characters after knowing more about acting in theatre. I have learned a lot from reading a lot of plays and learning about theatre. It was very helpful for me and gave me a lot of tools that I can use in films.
What are some of the most memorable projects you’ve worked on, and why?
I just had the opportunity to be in a film. It was a really fascinating experience. I had to play a role that was the complete opposite from me and it was really hard at first because the character would do things that I would never do in my life. I tried to find the connections between us and to think what would happen to me if I would do that, and what needs to happen to me that I would act like that. It was interesting to experience something so different from me.
How do you prepare for your roles, especially when transitioning between theatre and on-screen performances?
I first read the script many times because I don’t want to lose any details. I will memorize the lines as soon as possible. Then I read it again and again until I understand every small detail. Then I would look for the objectives and the actions of the character and find the reasons for his actions and how I need to interact with the other character. Then I would try to put myself in those situations and think how would I react and try to connect myself to the character. Then I would try to find pictures that would help me to see myself in that story, like where would I live or what era I was in or what would I wear. Then I would try to read some books about the subject or see movies that would give me information about it. I would try to talk to someone in real life that had that experience and would put that information in my notebook to make it real and authentic.
What challenges have you faced as an actor in Los Angeles, and how have you overcome them?
The rejections. But at this point, I’ve learned how to approach them, and I don’t see them as an obstacle. I just keep going. You would get rejections all the time. And you just need to keep going and to do your best and always get better and try again and if you really want it and you are putting 100% of yourself, it’s going to happen. When you want something and you are really putting so much effort and you keep trying, it will happen.
Do you have a favorite genre or type of character you enjoy portraying, and why?
I really like to play dramatic roles as well as roles of people who have no boundaries. It is really interesting because you have no limits and you can try to go as far as possible. My dream role is to play an actor from the old Hollywood era.
How do you balance creative expression with the commercial aspects of acting, like working in advertisements?
I think that it can change from person to person. But for me, I like to do a project that I feel a connection to the character or the story and that I think that the script is good and I enjoy and believe in.
What advice would you give to aspiring actors looking to break into the industry?
To just keep going and don’t ever give up. Don’t listen to the noises around that say that it’s too hard or impossible. Always be professional and to be early on the set and to do your best. Try again and again until it happens.
What upcoming projects or goals are you most excited about in your acting career?
I have a new movie that I’m excited to do with a director that I’ve worked before and I’m excited to work with him again. I’m excited to keep working hard and achieving the projects that I’m working on.
