Former transport secretary, Justine Greening, joins the travel agent, On the Beach (OTB). It is her first role after leaving politics. Greening left politics in 2019, at the time of elections.
On the board is the biggest name in the online travel agents. The company has appointed Justine Greening to its board, today. She was a former transport secretary who served from 2010 to 2015. Now she has joined as a non-executive director at a London-listed company.
It will be her first commercial role after politics. She quit Westminster just before the general elections of the year 2019. She was initially an accountant in the City and is known as UK’s first ‘Gay Female Cabinet minister’.
She has been contacted in the pandemic for her networking in the political circles. The move will prove as an asset to the company. The travel company is hopeful for the summer holiday travel season expecting the return of international travel. She can be the source of reforms.
The Chair and founder ‘On The Beach’, Richard Pennycook says that it is a privilege to have Justin Greening who has thought of OTB as her first ‘corporate board’. He also says that they look forward to working with Greening and to gain and learn from her experience. Her extensive knowledge, networks and expertise will be in favour of the company.
Richard Pennycook also says that they are expecting major reforms in the travelling regulations after the pandemic. In these circumstances, the expertise and relationship of Justine will be valuable for OTB in the navigation of those reforms. They can peruse more opportunities and grow better with the help of her. Greening says she is excited to join the board of the company as the UK is in process of getting vaccinated and it is expected that people will be back to travelling and enjoying their holidays again. She is optimistic about the business Simon, chief executive, has built. She looks forward to working with On The Beach to support their goal of becoming the biggest online travel retailer of ‘beach holidays’.
Simon Cooper is positive about the company having good cash revenues to stand its brand and relations with the hotels that are popular resorts at the beach. The chairman and CEO are the advocates of the customers’ money to provide them with the best services and build a relationship of trust.
This relationship of trust is extremely important as some of the other airlines and travel agents have been criticized for customers’ money. They failed to refund timely. The travelling industry criticizes the government support for the company during the pandemic.
