The legal battle against the conservatorship of Jamie Spears, over her daughter’s estate was back into the court. Britney Spears requested to remove him from the guardianship while appointing Bessemer Trust as her conservator.
The singer’s father wants to have complete authority and control over the finances of the singer in the name of protection and care. Judge Perry has objected and denied his request and declared that he will has to share the conservatorship with the Bessemer Trust, the private company.
Jamie Spears has been controlling Britney’s financial and personal matters since 2008 after legal permission for being her conservator. He was of the stance that he is doing it to protect her daughter out of love and care.
The singer wants the removal of her father from the rule and appointing the private trust as her the caretaker of her estates. On the other hand, the father wants to keep its role as sole manager of the singer’s estates and career. Bessemer Trust was appointed as temporary co-conservator for the American singer, 37. Jamie Spears had to share the power with the trust. He requested the court to take back his level of power. The requested was initiated as he found that the trust’s involvement has reduced his power over the financed. He was enjoying this power for about 12 years.
After the rejection to Mr. Spears’ request, Jamie Spears and Bessemer Trust will share the power equally.
The conservatorship was arranged legally in order to protect the singer as she was going through mental health issues. The singer wants to remove her father’s conservatorship completely. This request was already rejected by the court in November. Then, the court appointed a co-conservator.
The singer’s lawyer has claimed that there is no secret but, Britney Spears is afraid of his father and is not in favor of her father controlling her life, finances and career. She has not performed for the last two years almost. She says that there is no other reason or intention for not performing other than her father’s rule. She will not perform till her father is the manager of her finances.
The court session was held on Thursday, at Los Angeles.Fans gathered outside the court with the holdings of #FreeBritney campaign to support her. The singer acknowledged the concerns and support of the fans.
The next hearing has been scheduled on March 17.
The interest of the fans and media increased in the issues after release of a documentary “Framing Britney Spears” by The New York Times, followed by #FreeBritney movement by the fans.
