In 1986, at the AVANCE Center in San Antonio, Texas, a young woman named Janet Hodge worked tirelessly to uplift struggling families through early-childhood education and parental support. That year, the programme drew international attention — and a visit from His Royal Highness Prince Charles, now King Charles III.
Among the families present that historic day was Janet’s nephew — a bright-eyed two-year-old named Phillip Hodge, the boy who decades later would be known worldwide as Thuggizzle. Photographs and memories from that day capture more than a royal handshake; they mark the beginning of a story that intertwines destiny, resilience, and service to others.
A Royal Moment that Sparked a Lifelong Mission
King Charles’s 1986 trip to the United States focused on charitable engagement and community development — values that would unknowingly take root in the heart of the toddler he met. Raised in foster care, group homes, and shelters, Phillip’s early life mirrored the hardships faced by many of the very families AVANCE sought to help.
Years later, he would channel those trials into a purpose-driven career that blends art, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy, becoming a voice for underserved communities across America.
From Freestyle Architect to Philanthropic Entrepreneur
As an artist, Thuggizzle built his reputation on authenticity — a freestyle rapper who writes nothing down, creating music “off the dome” with raw emotion and truth. He has shared stages with legends including Snoop Dogg, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Cypress Hill, E-40, Too Short, and DMX, while charting nationally with his project No Pen and Pad Extended Edition — which became the #1-selling album on his distribution label two years running.
But Thuggizzle’s influence stretches far beyond music. He is the founder of three growing ventures under the Thuggizzle brand:
1. 🎵 Thuggizzle Music Group – inspiring creativity and perseverance through storytelling and live performance.
2. 💧 Thuggizzle Water LLC – a Texas-based eco-friendly spring-water company offering aluminum-canned alternatives to plastic, now found at regional retailers, museums, and hotels.
3. 💙 Thuggizzle Cares Inc. – a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit leading youth-empowerment and literacy programs such as Thuggizzle Reads to Kids, Lil Phillip Cares, and Make the Grade academic-incentive initiatives.
Through these efforts, he has donated thousands of bottles of water to community events, read personally to children learning English, and spoken to students across Texas about leadership, resilience, and giving back.
Recognised on the National Stage
In 2025, Thuggizzle’s dedication was honoured with two major accolades from Best of Best Review:
🏆 Best Music and Community Activist in the United States 2025
🏆 Best Community Activist in San Antonio 2025
These awards underscore a journey that began with a royal visit almost four decades ago — a testament to how the seeds of compassion planted in childhood can bloom into global impact.
A Call for Reunion and Reflection
Today, Thuggizzle stands as both artist and humanitarian, embodying many of the principles that King Charles III has championed throughout his reign — sustainability, youth opportunity, and social responsibility. His life’s arc — from a foster-care child shaking the hand of a future king, to a national role model empowering the next generation — feels poetic and complete.
As Thuggizzle continues to expand his mission globally, he expresses a heartfelt wish to meet His Majesty King Charles III once more — not as the toddler he once was, but as a grown man whose purpose and philanthropy reflect the very ideals that inspired his aunt, Janet Hodge, and so many others at the AVANCE Center that day in 1986.
“I would be honoured to meet His Majesty again,” Thuggizzle says. “When he visited, I was just a child — but maybe that moment was the start of everything I’ve become.”
