The star from Saved by the Bell has died at the age of 44, he was suffering from cancer, confirmed by the representative, Roger Paul.
He was recently diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer. Last month he completed the first session of chemotherapy. Diamond was getting treatment at a Florida hospital. His condition was deterioratedin the last weeks as reported.
The representative Paul said that it is a mercy that he didn’t suffered for long. The diseases did not spread in the body through his systems rather it was a blessing for him that it was a “sharp and swift execution”. He also said “Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.”
The actor played Screech from 1988 to 2000. He was best known for this role of goofy nerd that got popular. The American sitcom, “Saved by the Bell”, in 1990s was about high school friends group and their headmaster. It aired on the Saturday morning. It was a global hit with four seasons from 1989-1993.
He continued the role in the second and third one; Saved by the Bell: The New Class (1994-2000), and primetime Saved by the Bell: The College Years (1993-1994). He was not the part of the latest series.
Dustin Diamond was also a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.
He beat 5000 contestants in 1988 for his popular role of Samuel Screech Powers, when was 11. He was in fifth grade back then. The program was on the Disney Channel. It was a comedy forerunner to “Saved by the Bell”.
Viewers and fans have watched Dustin growing up in the “Saved by the Bell”. He was 23 in the last aired episode. According to him “the hardest thing about being a child star is giving up your childhood. You don’t get a childhood, really”. He said it in an interview with OWN in 2013. He also said that you have to work hard, rehearse and know your lines when you are a performer. You have to make sure that you are the funniest because if you won’t be, you could be replaced, he said in the same interview.
He started a new career after the series, as stand-up comic. Later, in 2006, a sex tale was aired from behind Screeched that involved him and two women. He said that it’s fake with a stunt man edited with my face.
Though he was not reputable by most and his life was full of mishaps, still he was a good man with sense to feel other’s emotions, Paul said. He was a “strength and a flaw, all in one”, according to him. He also added that “Dustin was a humorous and high-spirited individual whose greatest passion was to make others laugh”.
